There’s nothing quite like getting ahead of a trend. From the next big colour to the style of sofa that will dominate the next few years, figuring out what’s going to be cool is hard work. Enter, sites like Pinterest. Compiling millions of data points on everything from photogenic food to our favourite types of kitchens, Pinterest can give an insight into the world around us with just a few simple clicks. So it only makes sense that their Pinterest 100 report is filled with a goldmine of information.

For 2019, Pinterest’s report included a travel trends section, outlining the places and movements set to be huge in the coming months. From the type of travel (eco) to the preferred islands (remote), the report is packed with data that backs up exactly what we’ll all be doing come 2020 and beyond. Giving us a glimpse into our travel futures, the report is a glimpse of how people around the world are planning their holidays and which inspirational photos they’re saving. The proof is in the pictures, right? Below, eight of our favourite trending topics from the report worth noting.

Bus travel, up 32%
It might be cheap (and not so cheerful) but bus travel is seeing a resurgence. Maybe it’s the chance to stop on the side of the road and experience the side of the country, or perhaps it’s more to do with spending less on domestic travel and splashing out instead on designer hotels and Instagram-worthy meals.
