Hollywood’s obsession with reboots and revivals continues with award-winning ‘90s sitcom Mad About You set to return to screens later this year.

Studios seem particularly interested in reviving anything that was a hit or defined pop culture in the ‘90s with shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and popular book series The Baby-Sitters Club set to get second iterations on the small screen.

So, it’s not surprising that when the TV execs were mining the ‘90s archives Mad About You came up. The show ran for seven seasons between 1992 and 1999—the peak decade-defining years of the ‘90s—won multiple awards and really made a name for its stars, Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser, playing loveable New York newlyweds Paul and Jamie Buchman.

In fact, it was during the Mad About You years when Helen Hunt won an Oscar for her role in As Good As It Gets opposite Jack Nicholson and in the last season of the show both Hunt and Reiser were reportedly paid US$1 million per episode—cementing them as two of the highest paid TV stars of the time along with the cast from the other big TV hit of the era, Friends, who were also in the million dollar per episode payday club.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mad About You is getting a “reunion run” with Hunt and Reiser both returning to reprise their roles as Jamie and Paul Buchman respectively.

“We are so excited to finally be doing this,” reports Reiser and Hunt said in a joint statement. “We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show — as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!”

The third member of the Buchman family, Paul and Jamie’s daughter, Mabel, has been cast according to The Hollywood Reporter. Per the publication, Little Women’s Abby Quinn will be starring as the couple’s university-age daughter.

However, before blocking out your calendar for a Mad About You bingefest so you’re up to date on all things Buchman-related ahead of the reunion run airing, there is a caveat; the reboot won’t be back on its original network, NBC, and instead is being revived by new on-demand service, Spectrum Originals which is part of Charter Communications. Which is fine if you have a subscription to that service but anyone who doesn’t (it’s new, so that means probably everyone) won’t be able to access the new show.

Per the show is set to hit Spectrum Originals subscriber screens later this year, which hopefully means by then, another network will have negotiated a deal to air the show so everyone can enjoy it. We all need to see what’s next for Buchmans, including if they got a new pooch to replace possibly the best TV dog ever, their beloved Murray.
