Copenhagen Fashion Week was all about the cotton dress and retro sneakers

Copenhagen Fashion Week is underway, meaning the Danish capital is brimming with wardrobe inspiration – particularly when it comes to styling out a hot summer in the city. The first day of CPHFW belonged to the mellow cotton dress, with romantic puff-sleeve minis and winged-collar shirtwaisters replacing the floral midi as the silhouette du jour.
Here’s what we know about the Danish street style set’s go-to August look.
What’s all the fuss about?
As much as we love head-to-toe summer sportswear (cut to the cycling short trend that just won’t go away), there’s a lot to be said for embracing the easy-going romance of a roomy cotton dress, in lieu of an oversized T-shirt style. Copenhagen designer Cecilie Bahnsen leads the way with ultra-flattering A-line silhouettes, which pair nicely with the vintage Asics sneakers you’ve barely taken off all year.
OK, who’s wearing the cotton dress?
All of the Danish girls you follow on Instagram, who have long sun-kissed locks and excellent taste in interiors.
How do they style it?
Micro cross-body bags, pearl earrings and shell necklaces lend luxe cotton dresses the high-fashion-meets-wholesome agenda that we are into right now.
