Huge Update on Possible "Promotional War" Between WWE and ITV

– A major “promotional war” in the UK is brewing behind the scenes between ITV and WWE. The recent pilot that was taped for ITV’s “World of Sports” is scheduled to air at the end of December and while ITV has not officially committed to picking up the series, indications are that it is strongly being considered and that at the end of the month, they may have a massive series of tapings, similar to what TNA has been doing.

– The threat to WWE is that in the UK, ITV is the #2 network and the pilot will likely be viewed by millions of people, whereas WWE on Sky does something in the range of 150,000 viewers.

– ITV has already sent all their talent contract amendments that wouldn’t allow those that appear on their shows to do TV appearances on other major stations, but would not necessarily prevent the talent from appearing for other companies. WWE meanwhile is offering unique contracts to UK-based talent, unlike deals they have ever offered before. They are said to be low dollar guarantees where the wrestlers would be allowed to work for indies, but would give WWE full right to approve or reject any of their indie appearances.

– Some of the talent who have been offered deals by WWE are well known whereas others have no name value at all. WWE has already begun doing background checks and have told people to “clean up their social media accounts” in anticipation of a contract, but as of this time, haven’t yet offered anything.

– One of the ideas being tossed around is another new TV show for these UK talent that would be only for that market.
