Official WWE SmackDown Preview For Tonight – Opportunities, Lost
The following is from WWE.com:
Opportunities, lost
June 29, 2007
By order of the SmackDown General Manager’s office, World Heavyweight Champion Edge will meet The Animal one-on-one on SmackDown tonight in a non-title Vengeance rematch. The Rated-R Superstar earned a count-out victory in the Last Chance Match at the Night of Champions and now, Batista cannot receive another World Heavyweight Title opportunity as long as Edge is champion. That doesn’t mean, however, that the champion is out of the woods yet with The Animal.
With absolutely nothing to lose, what type of damage could Batista do to the Ultimate Opportunist on SmackDown? After a Batista Bomb to the arena floor on Sunday, the only opportunity Edge has tonight is for more punishment at the hands of his opponent. What will transpire between these rivals tonight? Will The Animal unleash his raging disappointment at SmackDown?
Also, Ric Flair’s quest to become a six-time United States Champion also fell just a bit short at Vengeance: Night of Champions, thanks to some unsportsmanlike conduct and a devastating “Playmaker” from current champion Montel Vontavious Porter. Can MVP continue his winning ways when he faces Kane tonight on SmackDown? Porter may continue to sport the U.S. Title bling, but is the gold merely a shiny target for SmackDown’s “franchise playa”?
Both Chavo Guerrero and Deuce & Domino exited Sunday’s Night of Champions with their respective titles intact. Guerrero barely hogtied — then Frog Splashed — SmackDown’s resident redneck, Jimmy Wang Yang, from lassoing away the Cruiserweight Championship; meanwhile, despite a WWE Legend-ary post-match beatdown, Deuce & Domino successfully defended their WWE Tag Team Titles in an open challenge against “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka & Sgt. Slaughter. Will anyone among the SmackDown roster rise to challenge these tarnished title-holders tonight?
One fact is certain: difficult questions lead to difficult answers tonight on SmackDown, 8/7 CT on the CW Network.
