Singapore’s Qantas Business Lounge just got a whole lot better

Travelling isn’t exactly fun. After factoring in long haul stopovers, a lack of proper beds and the general tiredness associated with changing time zones, it’s not exactly the world’s most-anticipated activity. But when the stopovers are made that little bit nicer by way of a comfortable airport lounge… well, that’s another story.

Qantas, the undisputed master of creating the best airport lounges in the world has revealed their new-look, expanded Business Class lounge in Singapore. Now covering 2,200 square metres and seating 570 people, the lounge has more room than ever — and proves there is some comfort to be found when en-route.

The updated lounge features plenty of ways to stay entertained while waiting for a flight. With menus designed by Neil Perry, plus Spice Temple-inspired cocktails, travellers can indulge in local specialities and load up on regional favourites like laksa and roast pork belly, all made to order. Add to that a hand-picked menu of Australian wines and, let’s be honest, it’s hard to leave.

“With the return of our Singapore hub, we are seeing strong demand for travel in premium cabins. We are pleased to open the additional space to ensure a comfortable experience for our customers spending time in the Business Lounge,” Qantas International Acting CEO, Mr Naren Kumar said in a statement.

The expansion comes as the announcement of a brand new First Class lounge heralds a new era of luxury for the brand. Set to open in the same terminal later this year, Qantas has confirmed Singapore as their newest luxury hub — and cements it as the airline’s biggest outside of Australia. “Representing an overall capacity increase of sixty percent, our multi-million-dollar investment in an expanded Business Lounge and new First Lounge at Changi Airport is part of our commitment to improve the experience for our customers travelling through Asia,” Kumar continues.

While only a miracle can cure jet lag (although the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, certainly has some helpful tips), comfortable chairs and ample charging ports might at least be able to soften the blow. We’ll meet you there!
