At a glance jewellery and fragrance may seem worlds apart. But look a little closer and they bear some striking similarities. Take for instance the fact that both fine jewellery and a spritz of scent are often the final accessory to an outfit; the detail that elevates something ordinary to something exceptional.

Van Cleef and Arpels – Rose Rouge

It’s fitting then that storied jewellery brand, Maison Van Cleef and Arpels, are affording the same attention to detail and craftsmanship they’re known for in the prestigious halls of jewellery-making, to the fanciful world of fragrance.

Van Cleef and Arpels – Precious Oud

Coined the High Perfumery Collection the brand’s latest foray into fragrance is as elevated as it is considered. That translates to a wardrobe of five unisex fragrances which hero the rarest raw, botanical ingredients – a dedication to quality and ethos the brand has applied to jewels since its inception in the early 1900’s.

Van Cleef and Arpels – Neroli Amara

There’s Rose Rouge, which blooms heady Turkish rose and Rose Essential (a concoction of the finest roses). While it blossoms rose on application, perfumer Julien Raquinet uniquely paired the star ingredient with wood, cacao and pink peppercorn, which elevates it beyond a typical rose scent. The floral notes are continued through the other fragrances including Néroli Amara and Gardénia Pétale; the latter offering a burst of femininity via a bouquet of fresh white petals.

Van Cleef and Arpels – California Reverie

As the name suggests, California Reverie heroes California’s most prized asset – the bright sunshine – with the addition of sun-drenched orange flower which sparkles an intoxicating mix of honey and white blossom. On the other end of the spectrum, the final fragrance in the range, Precious Oud, maintains the allure of a traditional oud – earthy and leathery – while making it appear entirely new. That’s thanks to the mix of white flowers like tuberose and jasmine: a masterstroke from perfumer Amandine Marie to bring to life a new take on a traditional note.

Van Cleef and Arpels – Gardenia Petale

While each fragrance is remarkably different, there are some commonalities which tie the collection together. Adding to the collectable nature of the range, each fragrance bears a unique formulation number attributed to it by the perfumer. Moreover, the classic flacon housing the scents is etched in a distinct branded monogram and, in a nod to the brand’s roots, it’s topped off with a weighty metal cap and jewellery-inspired charm. Now that’s attention to detail.
