AEW Revolution notes: PPV opener, taped street fight a 'massive success'

While there are plenty of questions to be answered at Sunday’s AEW Revolution, one can be answered already as the show opener will be AEW Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF kicking things off.

The Bucks will be looking for the third defense of the titles they won at last November’s Full Gear and to extend a winning streak in straight tag team matches that dates back to last year’s Revolution when they were defeated by then-champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. Jericho and MJF are unbeaten since they formed as a team and earned the shot by winning a battle royal at the February Beach Break edition of Dynamite.

In another note for tonight’s show, the street fight between TNT Champion Darby Allin and Sting vs. Team Taz members Brian Cage and Ricky Starks has already been taped cinematic style. SI’s Justin Barrasso said he was told the match was a “massive success” that “highlights Sting while ensuring he worked in as safe of an environment as possible; allowed Ricky Starks and Brian Cage to have some star-making moments; and gave Darby Allin – who had a chance to apply his film school background – more chances to be a daredevil.”
