Chris Jericho Defeats Kenny Omega In All Elite Wrestling’s First PPV Main Event
Chris Jericho may have just made a case as the Greatest Of All Time.
The three-decade veteran closed out All Elite Wrestling’s debut pay-per-view, Double or Nothing, this Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, shocking the world by pinning Kenny Omega – thought by many to be the best wrestler in the world today – clean in the middle of the ring.
The two mega stars had an absolute war, as Omega legitimately broke his nose early in the bout and spent half an hour bleeding profusely while taking the fight to the six-time WWE world heavyweight champion.
After shaking off numerous Lionsaults, multiple Codebreakers and managing to escape from not only the signature Wall of Jericho, but the much more brutal Liontamer, Omega suffered a final, match-ending shot from Jericho’s brand new finishing maneuver – a spinning back fist he’s now calling the Judas Effect.
With this victory, Jericho has earned himself an opportunity to potentially become the first ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He will now go on to face Hangman Page, who won the pre-show Casino Battle Royale, at a later date, with the winner becoming the inaugural champion.
