Daniel Bryan On Cody Rhodes Becoming a Main Event Star Outside of WWE, Possibly Being Booked For ‘ALL IN’

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan was the special guest on this week’s episode of Talk is Jericho, hosted by wrestling legend Chris Jericho. As previously reported, the Yes Movement leader revealed on the show that he was interested in working with Bullet Club if he was not cleared by WWE doctors.

Ever since the upcoming ALL IN event was proposed, one of the hottest topics has been whether or not he would return to the ring post-WWE to take place in the massive Chicago weekend. However, Bryan clarified that even if he did wait out his contract an appearance at ALL was fairly unlikely.

“Cody had kind of texted me. When they announced the date of the show, I don’t think it would have been possible. They announced that well before I was cleared, and the date of the show was actually the day that my contract expires. I don’t know, I would have had to get a lawyer.”

Jericho then joked about independent shows being so long, that they could have just waited until midnight to bring him out. Bryan joked, “You could have had me come out in a full body suit with a mask, and then at midnight I get unmasked!”

Both stars also had high praise for the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, who left WWE in 2016 and has since tuned into one of the hottest wrestlers on the planet.

Bryan: “I think he’s done such a great job as far as like – he’s gone out and he’s willing to work hard. He didn’t jack up his price. He was like, ‘I want to work. What’s a price that can get me booked every weekend, three shows a week every weekend, because I want to prove that I’m better than what WWE made me.’ As opposed to a lot of people who are like, ‘I was a WWE guy, so $5,000 a show.’ Most promoters can’t afford that. He’s so different than the independent wrestlers that are known as independent wrestlers. That’s what makes him awesome, and what makes him unique. It’s a difference in styles.”

Jericho: “He’s really come into his own. The last time I saw him I was like, ‘dude you are now a bonafide main-eventer.’ And he wasn’t [in WWE]. That’s something that I think a lot of guys should take notice of. Cody’s a good example of someone who left on his own, and really showed what he can do.”
