Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid just made cute couple jewellery a thing

Making a sweet declaration to your loved ones via carefully curated jewellery is nothing new.

Meghan Markle has worn a tiny ‘A’ pendant on her necklace in dedication to her son, Archie, since his birth—and has since layered a ‘H’ charm onto her neck, a subtle nod to her husband, Prince Harry. Even Miley Cyrus’s rumoured girlfriend, Kaitlynn Carter just stepped out with a signet ring with the letter ‘M’ clearly emblazoned on it.

So it’s pretty safe to say that using accessories as a means of expressing your adoration for a loved one is now a legitimate means of reading into a couple’s relationship status; a move that certainly pertains to new couple, Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid, after we spotted a little two-way jewellery dedication of their own.

Making their first official debut as a couple after they were spotted attending Hadid’s grandmother’s funeral in the Netherlands, Lipa and her model beau recently stepped out in support of his sisters—Gigi and Bella Hadid—at Marc Jacobs’s spring/summer 2020 show at New York Fashion Week. Following the couple dressing manual to a tee, both kept their head-to-toe Marc Jacobs outfits in a bold white, yellow and blue colour scheme, with each of them donning adorable graphic T-shirts.

But as sweet as some of their first few captured public couple moments already look, with said coordinated clothing moment considered, one particular element of their outfits for the evening took their cute factor as a duo and multiplied it by a thousand.

Taking a closer look at Lipa’s single statement earring—which riffs on Sweethearts candy, an already romantically-charged symbol—which reads ‘I love you’, we can’t help but think the jewellery-based message was meant for none other than Hadid.

But if you thought the earring was nothing but an undirected statement sans underlying message, perhaps the fact that Hadid wore a similar candy heart-style necklace which read ‘Kiss me’, will convince you that the pair were indeed giving a peek into just how sweet their blossoming romance truly is. And while we earlier made a point of one-way accessory tributes being an established method of love dedications, the pair are certainly making this statement their own, with Lipa and Hadid’s twinning moment marking the first case of coordinated couple jewellery we can recall.

And we may absolutely be getting ahead of ourselves here, but jewellery dedications considered, should we be reading into the fact that the singer’s white Marc Jacobs patent pumps—dubbed ‘The Proposal heels’—featured a single diamond ring on one of the heels? Because if accessory statements also apply in this scenario, wedding bells may not be too far off for the pair.
