From promenading on the famous Flemington front lawns in the 1800s to taking to the Myer Fashions on the Field catwalk in the 2000s, racegoers have always taken style seriously.
Melbourne Cup Week is a celebration like no other. Four days of the finest fashion, food, sport and entertainment attract guests from far and wide to marvel at the beauty and skill of our equine athletes and the effort put in by racegoers to look their very best.

This year has been another exceptional one in the history of the Victoria Racing Club, custodians of the 158-year-old Lexus Melbourne Cup and the stunning Flemington Racecourse.
For the first time, the Lexus Melbourne Cup will offer $8 million in prize money. The winning connections will also take home the 18-karat-gold Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy, but not before hundreds of people around Australia and the world get the chance to hold the symbolic trophy as part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour.
Perhaps the most exciting (and stylish) innovation this Cup Week is the reimagining of The Birdcage. The corporate hospitality space that has hosted some of the world’s most influential names in fashion, lifestyle, politics and business in the past will be even more dazzling in 2019, so start planning your outfits and jockeying for a spot in one of the exceptional marquees, including the Victoria Racing Club’s own 1 Oliver Street.
If it’s people-watching you want, then you can’t go past The Park, which remains a favourite destination for racegoers wanting to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Cup Week. Home to Myer Fashions on the Field, a live stage featuring some of Australia’s biggest acts and pop-ups from some of Melbourne’s most delicious culinary destinations, this is the place to enjoy a taste of the best Melbourne has to offer.
With so much for you to explore and enjoy, the Victoria Racing Club can’t wait to welcome you to the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
