Why Hatem Ben Arfa was not in Barcelona yesterday

According to L’Équipe, Hatem Ben Arfa called off his trip to Barcelona yesterday at the very last minute and has instead rescheduled it for next week Monday.

The player was due to visit FCB’s training facilities but after consulting management at OGC Nice, he decided to withdraw from the trip in order to focus solely on Les Aiglons’s final game of the season against Guingamp, where a win could see them grab a Champions League place if other results go their way.

The player did have the following to say about Barcelona following Nice’s 2-0 victory over St Étienne last weekend:

“Barcelona? When you love football, you love Barcelona.”
