Inside Vogue Festival 2019 in Adelaide
From Thursday, October 17, to Saturday, October 19, Vogue Festival took over Adelaide’s Rundle Mall for a shopping event worth attending. While the event typically runs for just two days, this year it ran for a total of three days in order to fit in all the fashion, fun and food it had to offer.
Bigger and better than ever before, Vogue Festival 2019 – which was presented by Vogue Australia, in partnership with Rundle Mall, the City of Adelaide and the South Australian Tourism Commission – invited GQ Australia to join in on the celebrations, meaning the extravaganza proved one for the books.
Fashion parades, store pop-ups, street parties, live music and so much more took the city by storm. Exclusive promotions, outdoor activations and store-wide discounts were enjoyed by all. On top of all that, supporting partner David Jones celebrated the event with its very own pop-up bars, styling sessions, Q&A panels and beauty treatments.
Gelato Messina descended upon Adelaide for the very first time, with a pop-up truck that was most definitely a crowd favourite. The city’s first Sephora store was filled with shoppers all weekend long and a Spendless Shoes Slide Lab, which gave shoppers the opportunity to collaborate with a local artist on personalised slides, was set up in the centre of Rundle Mall.
The event’s program also welcomed the return of the Vogue Kitchen Lunch at Sean’s Kitchen, which served to celebrate 60 years of Vogue Australia with complimentary Seppeltsfield wine and a three-course luncheon cooked by head chef Sean Connolly. The inaugural GQ Supper Club hosted by GQ editor Mike Christensen was held on Thursday, 17 October, followed by Voices of Vogue Festival from Friday, October 18, to Saturday, October 19.
Voices of Vogue Festival saw a series of fashion-focused panels take over the Vogue stage, located by the Vogue Festival Bar serving Out in the Paddock treats. The panels followed the official launch of the event by Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann at Rundle Mall’s ‘Mall’s Balls’.
The panels saw Edwina McCann, Mike Christensen and fashion editor of The Australian, Glynis Traill-Nash, kick off the seminars with the Meet the Editors panel, followed by Meet the Movers & Shakers with model and David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee, celebrity stylist and GQ contributor Elliot Garnaut and Channel 10’s Kate Freebairn.
The following day, influencer and businesswoman Elle Ferguson took to the stage with Vogue’s senior beauty and health editor, Remy Rippon, before Vogue’s fashion editor and market director, Philippa Moroney, and deputy editor, Jessica Montague, took part in a series of talks with a number of industry insiders.
