Is there anything better than a festive season romance? Whether it’s in book form or on our screens, there really isn’t anything more charming, enjoyable and downright feel-good festive-spirited than watching the familiar tropes of a rom-com play out in a tinsel-clad setting. Romance and the holiday season really are just the perfect pairing—after all, kissing under the mistletoe was invented for a reason.
Luckily for fans of this genre, the upcoming festive season is looking like a bumper year, especially in terms of our festive rom-com viewing schedule. There are a slew of options coming our way including one festive romance flick, Let It Snow, that we know is going to be one of those films that when Netflix kindly suggests we “watch it again”, we will respond with a resounding “yes!” many times over.
Eagle-eyed festive romance novel readers and fans of John Green—the best-selling author of The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska, and Paper Towns—will undoubtedly recognise the name, Let It Snow, as the name of young adult festive romance novel co-written by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle (the book’s full title is Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances). And, yes, the upcoming Netflix film is based on the novel.

If you haven’t read the book yet, the story follows three teens whose lives intersect during the Christmas holiday season when a snowstorm hits a town called Gracetown. Festive high jinks, fledgling romance, heartbreak, friendship and a whole lot of snow all translate into a book and, by extension, a soon-to-be-dropped series adaptation, that are a must-read and must-see. Especially considering the cast Netflix has pulled together for the film.
Starring in this festive viewing gift is an all-star roll call of up-and-coming actors including the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Kiernan Shipka, Dora and the Lost City of Gold’s Isabela Merced, Lady Bird’s Odeya Rush, Jacob Batalon, Shameik Moore, Mitchell Hope, Liv Hewson and Miles Robbins.
The film is set to be available on the streaming platform in Australia on November 8, 2019. Ahead of it hitting Netflix next month, enjoy every single festive minute of the newly released trailer. Watch it below.
