With the Trump impeachment inquiry, Democrats are looking for a vote winner

America is sorely divided over Trump: his approval rating stands at around 41 per cent, as opposed to 55 per cent who disapprove.

The Democrats would like, obviously, to impeach the President and thus force him out of office. But, accepting that this will be an uphill struggle, they are happy to use this process as a kind of political theatre, to turn even more voters against him and thus win the White House back via the ballot box.

The irony is that by some traditional metrics, Trump is doing a good job. The country is at peace and, according to Gallup, over half of Americans say the economy is good or better.
