After Alwar, Mentally Challenged Woman Lynched Over WhatsApp Rumour In Madhya Pradesh

Mob lynching seems to have become a routine event now in India. Just after the brutal Alwar lynching where a man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a cow-smuggler, another woman has been lynched on suspicion of being a child lifter in Madhya Pradesh’ Singrauli district. This time also, the rumour was spread through whatsApp.

The victim has been identified as a middle-aged mentally challenged woman.

The incident took place at night, the SP, Singrauli Riyaz Iqbal told TOI. Police also confirmed that the woman was killed based on rumours of being a child lifters.The victim’s body was recovered from the forest close to the spot of the incident on Sunday afternoon. “We got information about a dead body being dumped in the forest on Sunday morning following which a team was sent to the spot. The injuries on the body suggested that she had been lynched,” police told Indiatoday.
