Inside the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s 2019 Art Ball
On May 25, the Art Gallery of Western Australia hosted its fourth annual Art Ball. The Electric Dreams-themed event, presented by Vogue Australia, welcomed a gathering of guests into the renowned establishment; guests were treated to a selection of crowd-pleasing activations, interactive installations and show-stopping performances.
The celebration, which also served to mark the main building of the gallery’s 40th anniversary, invited guests to sip on QT Perth signature cocktails, G.H. Mumm Champagne, and Juniper Estate wine, while dining inside the Electric Eatery. Before the evening was up three of the event’s best dressed attendees were awarded prizes, and a luxury raffle took place.
Throughout the course of the night, a series of musicians, each born, bred or based in Perth, took to the stage to entertain the audience. These acts included indie-pop-rockers San Cisco, synth artists Feels, electro-pop duo Priscilla and resident DJ Alsan. Some hours later, opera star Pia Harris closed the evening with a jaw-dropping performance of Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro.
The evening also welcomed internationally renowned photographer Frances Andrijich, who marked the event with a photograph of the entire crowd, and performance art duo The Huxleys, who performed in the corridors of the building. A little later, Yummy and the TNT All Stars collaborated on a cabaret performance, and Gendermess took to the stage with a drag act. For more, scroll on to see inside the 2019 Art Ball below.
