Inside a fairytale Californian wedding
Ashley Kristen Rosati and Jordan Grant Press crossed paths without knowing, before they fell in love. “Jordan and I met in Los Angeles, through a mutual friend back in 2013. Little fun fact: we both went to the same college and his best friend lived on my dorm floor freshman year, but we never crossed paths. That same friend married us 10 years later,” says Ashley. It came as quite the surprise when Jordan decided to get on one knee. “It was the day before New Year’s Eve in Sedona, Arizona. We went with our two best friends Brent and Marilyn Hicks. I’m a big outdoor enthusiast and he waited until we were standing on Devil’s Bridge (a beautiful arch overlooking the Red Rocks) where he got down on one knee. Because I planned the hike, I had no idea it was coming and he took me by complete surprise,” Ashley says.
As for the wedding day, they chose to commence the wedding at Calamigos Ranch located in Malibu, California. “Jordan took me to the resort for our first Valentine’s day. They have a beautiful spa pool and we noticed it was dog friendly.” The couple were quick to discover the perfect wedding venue. “A few months later we were hiking with our dog Captain and got completely muddy. On the way home we were about to pass the turn for Calamigos and decided to stop in and have a drink in our muddy attire. They welcomed us with open arms and even let us spend the day at the pool with our pup. We knew it was where were we were going to get married after that day. Picturing our family at the pool, the beautiful scenario, fun restaurant – it’s perfect,” Ashley says.
While Ashley and Jordan had already envisioned their dream wedding, they enlisted a wedding planner to make the dream become real. “Geffen Events,” Ashley says. “We are both very minimalistic and wanted a clean yet nature inspired look. Our colours were marble, grey and white.” My favourite accent in the wedding was my bridesmaids’ flowers. I had them all walk down the aisle with a single large white Protea, which is a South African flower. It was a symbol of Jordan’s family roots,” Ashley says.
Ashley wore a Pronovias Vicenta wedding dress and when looking, knew exactly what she wanted. “I knew I was getting married at the top of stairs so I wanted a long train to drape down the steps. The most important part of the dress for me was the back. When I tried this dress on I knew Jordan would die for the open back. This dress felt timeless to me when I put it on.” Ashley tied the look together with a natural makeup look and delicate pieces of jewellery. “I didn’t want anything to compete with my dress,” Ashley says.
To welcome and relax the guests, Ashley and Jordan had a welcome dinner to bring everyone together. “It was an outdoor pizza party where the pizza was made in these beautiful outdoor ovens. My family owns a pizza franchise (Rosati’s Pizza) in the States so we thought it would be a nice personal touch.” The welcome dinner was decorated with different coloured furniture, wild flowers and neon lights. The couple also included yard games for the guests. “Since we got married on a Friday, we also hosted a tacos and tequila party on Saturday to end on a fun note before everyone departed on Sunday,” Ashley says.
Ashley mentions the most memorable part of the wedding would have to be the father daughter dance. “My dad is a tough Italian man and isn’t much of a dancer… in fact I don’t have any memories of him dancing. I knew he was a little nervous leading up to the wedding, but on the day of when came on, he blew me away. He twirled me and laughed as we moved around the floor. I’ll never forget that memory.”
“Jordan and I wanted to reverse time and do it all over again,” Ashley says.

Ashley’s makeup look: “Very natural make up that make me look dewy and with a touch of shimmer.”
“Since we had a modest colour scheme for the wedding, we included a lot of pops of colours.”
