Cynthia Barboza and co. beat the favorite for the championship

In the 7th round of the Superleague, league newcomer, the Ufimochka Ufa team, suprised fans with defeating one of favorites to the championship, Dinamo Krasnodar.

After not the best start to the season and four lost matches in a row, Ufa has gained momentum and round to round it defeats better and better teams. Last weekend, Dinamo Krasnodar learnt the strength of the Ufimochka Ufa team. In reception again excellent was Anna Malova. Ufa hampered Dinamo’s game with a difficult services. With nine aces, five of them were performed by Cynthia Barboza, who won the most points throughout the game –- 25.

The five-set match took place between two neighboring teams in the league table, Zarechie Odintsovo and Uralochka Ekaterinburg. After two winning sets by Uralochka, in the third part situation was changing very often. The teams interchangeably took the severalpoint lead. Nikolay Karpol’s team could finish the game at 3:0, but with the result 23:20, Odintsovo tied the score, and then win decisive points. The outcome of the match was to be determined by the tie-break, in which the Uralochka players “blocked” their rivals, earning five points in this element of play.

 

Uralochka still has to cope without the injured Maria Beloborodova, who underwent surgery a week ago, and whose recovery is projected to last six months.
