Vogue Codes 2019 Sydney Summit: your guide to everything that happened on the day
As Vogue Codes 2019 slowly but surely wraps up for another year, we can look back at all the best moments that have come out of the series. There have been incredible speakers, wonderful venues, and street style looks a plenty. The Sydney Summit event was indeed a highlight, graced by talent like fashion designer Karen Walker, PepTalkHer founder Meggie Palmer, Estee Lauder senior vice president of research and development Jane Anders, Sunfed founder Shama Sukul Lee, and Plann founder Christy Laurence, who all delivered incredible keynote speeches for the occasion.
Brighte founder Katherine McConnell and head of growth at Atlassian Mairead O’Donovan participated in a Q&A session outlining what a career in tech really looks like, whereas Away luggage founder Jen Rubio talked through the idea of building a successful digital brand. The stage also saw Shandre Kushor of Crimson Education, Creatable co-founder Greg Attwells, and Barker College STEAM coordinator Virginia Ellis discuss STEM at an educational level, and building confidence in female students.
Artificial Intelligence was another topic up for analysis, thanks to a well-versed panel made up of Soul Machines’s Rachel Rekart, Afiniti’s Caroline O’Brien and Samantha Wong of Blackbird Ventures.
Held at Westpac’s Barangaroo headquarters, the full-day event was equal parts inspiring and enlightening, carving out the why, and the how when it comes to increasing female presence in tech industries.
