The first final match of Italian volleyball Serie A1 was sold out, played in a great atmosphere as the teams played on the tricolour court for the first time.

Trento started strong with a ace of Winiarski and a Grbic block. Kaziyski and Vissotto made sure there was no comeback from Piacenza and Winiarski sealed it to go 1-0. Lorenzetti?s team improved drastically on the serve and at the net in the second set and it was soon level again. In the third set, Mrshall shined, Dunnes came on and did some damage and Piacenza took the lead 2-1. It was all one-way traffic in the fourth set with Trentino?s attack working to perfection and some good serving helped too.

In its PalaTrento, the home team got an impresive rhythm in tiebreak, Trentino was 8-4 up as Piacenza made a couple of mistakes. Piacenza proved once more how hard they work till the end: They got back in the set and even cancelled out two match-points to tie it at 14 with a Bravo block on Winiarski. Vissotto gathered two other match-points and it was the Brazilian that finished the game with his last ace.

Andrea Bari (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We´re starting a series with a tie-break again. We played against a lively team that made it difficult for us straight from the start. After the first set, we lost our focus and we trailed 2-1. The end of the tie-break was a bit like the lottery, but I think this won´t be the only way we´ll play”.

Joao Paolo Bravo (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We have been a bit unlucky, but we still had a good game. Still, it was not enough to beat Trento. I´m sure we´ll find something extra in Piacenza”.
