College Recruiting: two-time state champion Cardinal to South Dakota State University

Derrick Cardinal of Forest Lake has committed to wrestling for South Dakota State University in 2021-22.

Cardinal is a three-time state placewinner. He won the Class AAA 120-pound title in 2019 as a sophomore. He won the 113-pound title as a freshman. As an eighth-grader Cardinal placed fourth at 106 pounds.

Cardinal is projected to wrestle at 133 or 141 pounds for the Jackrabbits.
