Randy Orton wrestled his first match of the year Tuesday night on Smackdown Live.

Orton, who had been out of the ring for nine months recovering from a major shoulder injury, defeated Intercontinental champion The Miz in his return match.

Orton landed two RKOs on Miz to secure the win after dramatically selling the shoulder throughout the match.

This was a tune-up match for Orton before facing Brock Lesnar at Summerslam on August 21. WWE’s story is Orton will take a beating from Lesnar, but he has the one-shot RKO as a weapon to potentially win the match at SSlam.

This is what's so lethal about #TheViper… you NEVER know when he will STRIKE! #SDLive @RandyOrton @mikethemiz https://t.co/gdCVZQFTye
