Following their surprise wedding ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this year in May, Game of Thrones starlet Sophie Turner and Jonas Brothers front man Joe Jonas wed again in a lavish celebration in France this past weekend, with plenty of celebrity guests including Turner’s sister-in-law, Priyanka Chopra, and her Game of Thrones co-star, Maisie Williams, in tow.
To mark their nuptials, Turner — who sported an affordable jumpsuit by label Bevza for her initial wedding ceremony — signaled a departure from this contemporary style and opted for a traditional silhouette by designer Nicolas Ghesquière in custom Louis Vuitton.
The 23-year-old actress, who is also a long-time ambassador of the French luxury house (others include Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander and Laura Harrier), proved suspecting fans right yesterday when she and Ghesquière posted pictures of the incredible one-of-a-kind wedding dress to Instagram.
Underneath a delicately embroidered veil, Ghesquière’s Instagram post revealed a voluminous skirt with capped sleeves and a cut-out exposing Turner’s upper back, with the entire silhouette covered in floral motifs.
As per WWD, the silk gazar and tulle gown took over 350 hours to execute. Constructed at Louis Vuitton’s flagship in the Place Vendôme in Paris, the custom gown was worked on by countless seamstresses in the house’s designated workshop, the Atelier Rare & Exceptionnel reserved for celebrities and couture clientele.
Hours spent on the veil alone tallied 48 — a number that pales in comparison to those required to assemble the dress itself. The gown involved the specialization of 10 embroiderers, who together pored over the custom number for 1,050 hours, working with 14 metres of tulle and demanding over 650,000 individual stitches. As for the embellishment work? The dress features a staggering 100,800 beads — 50,400 of a white variety and 50,400 of a crystal variety.
The incredible craftsmanship and hard work of the workshop culminated in the breathtaking imagery released to Instagram following the wedding, satisfying Jonas Brothers and Game of Thrones fans alike who waited with baited breath for the bride’s reveal. Ghesquière, who captioned the image he posted to Instagram simply with ‘Absolut beauty’ encapsulated the bride perfectly, reflecting the contemporary-yet-classical vision she exuded on the day.
Quickly garnering the attentions of celebrities and designers alike, Laura Harrier, Lily Aldridge and Eva Chen chimed in instantaneously to reflect their awe, encouraging an endless list of commenters to follow suit, inundating both Turner and Ghesquière’s channels with nods of approval.
As for the groom’s outfit, Joe Jonas and his groomsmen — which included fellow band mates and brothers Kevin and Nick Jonas—wore Berluti by Kris Van Assche.
