Talking Smack Cancellation Confirmed, Another Show Cancelled Too

It was announced via Pro Wrestling Sheet earlier today that Talking Smack, the post-show that once aired after Smackdown each Tuesday night, had been cancelled by WWE. In a brief update, WWE has confirmed that the show has been cancelled but the reasons as to why were not specified. The plan is for the show to only air after Smackdown pay-per-views each month, much like how Raw Talk airs after the opposing brand’s pay-per-view shows. While the show featured no in-ring action, the show was still beloved by fans who saw the show as a fantastic opportunity for Smackdown stars to have a voice and let the audience know more about them.
PWInsider was issued the following statement by WWE shortly after the news broke: “We continuously review WWE Network’s programming line-up based on a variety of factors, including viewership and subscriber research. Talking Smack and Raw Talk will air following pay-per-view events, and Tuesday will continue to feature 205 LIVE.” It is interesting to see how much fans truly enjoyed the post-show each week, some have even been using the hashtag #SaveTalkingSmack as a way to get WWE’s attention and hopefully get the company to reverse their decision. Talking Smack seemed to be a widely-praised show with the WWE Network subscribers, the cancellation caught several fans off guard.
If you think that this was shocking to fans, imagine how Renee Young must’ve felt when she discovered the news via Twitter. Young responded to a tweet from a fan who was disappointed about the show’s cancellation and she seemed to suggest that the company had not alerted her to the news beforehand. Young later stated:

It’s hard to think that WWE didn’t even alert the host of the show that it would be relegated to a monthly series, but that’s apparently what happened here. Later on in the day, Young confirmed that her Unfiltered show on the network had also been cancelled. Superstars such as Daniel Bryan and The Miz have commented on how much Talking Smack will be missed.
