A lot of work goes into creating the ultimate travel photo. There are flights and hotels to organise. A digital SLR camera and drone to buy. Then you need to get up incredibly early to beat the crowds. Throw in a hike through extreme heat or cold to the location, and it becomes obvious why so many of us are more than happy to simply repost the hard-won pictures of professional travel photographers – like Ana Linares and Samuel Taipale.

Ana Linares, better known by her Instagram handle @ananewyork, is a professional photographer who has shot for La Mer, Google, Moet & Chandon and Shopbop. She has an incredible eye for angles and colours, which elevates her photos of pretty pastel buildings and flowers into works of art. With 176,000 followers, she’s definitely doing something right.

Samuel Taipale (@eljackson) is a sweet blonde surfer-snowboarder who travels the world with his wife and baby. He is even more Insta-famous than Ana, with 389,000 followers, and his feed is full of aquamarine oceans and dramatic snow-capped mountains. You can see how much he loves his little family in the photos he takes of them (be still my beating heart), and there are plenty of fun action shots of him too.
