Grace Kelly’s family tree: a guide to her grandchildren

It’s a well-documented fact that Grace Kelly was one of the world’s most loved royals. In her short lifetime, before her untimely and ultimately tragic death in 1982, the American film actress made waves in a series of leading roles, before marrying Prince Rainier III and becoming the Princess of Monaco in 1956. 

Prior to her passing, the Academy Award-winning star welcomed three children with her husband, one of the longest ruling monarchs in European history. Along with the current Prince of Monaco, Prince Albert II, the pair’s daughters, Princess Caroline and Princess Stéphanie, have drawn a considerable amount of media attention over the years.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that their children, Kelly’s grandchildren, have also grown up in the spotlight. However, while much is known about the beloved princess’s offspring, when it comes to their numerous sons and daughters, it has become rather hard to keep track of their busy lives. 

From Charlotte Casiraghi, the equestrian sportswoman and published writer, to fashion designer Pauline Ducruet, who is also 14th in line to the Monegasque throne, the individuals that make up Kelly’s family tree are no doubt ones to watch. Andrea Casiraghi

Royal family: Grimaldi, of the Principality of Monaco.
Born: June 8, 1984, at Princess Grace Hospital Centre in La Colle, Monaco.
Lives: London.
Parents: Caroline, Princess of Hanover and Stefano Casiraghi.
Siblings: Charlotte Casiraghi; Pierre Casiraghi; Princess Alexandra of Hanover (half-sister).
Education: International School of Paris; McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada; graduated with a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and international politics from the American University of Paris in 2006. Studied a Master of Business Administration at IE Business School in Madrid in 2014.
Marriage: married Tatiana Santo Domingo on August 31, 2013.
Children: Alexandre Casiraghi (born March 21, 2013), India Casiraghi (born April 12, 2015) and Maximilian Casiraghi (born April 19, 2018) with wife Tatiana Santo Domingo.
Influence: as the son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover and Stefano Casiraghi, he is fourth in the line of succession to the Monégasque throne. He is the patron of the Motrice Foundation, which funds research into cerebral palsy, and has been involved with Grace Kelly’s philanthropic organisation, World Association of Children’s Friends (AMADE).

Charlotte Casiraghi

Children: Raphaël Elmaleh (born December 17, 2013) with Gad Elmaleh, and Balthazar Rassam (born October 13, 2018) with Dimitri Rassam.
Influence: as the daughter of Caroline, Princess of Hanover and Stefano Casiraghi, she is eleventh in the line of succession to the Monégasque throne. Pierre Casiraghi

Occupation: businessman.
Marriage: married Beatrice Borromeo on July 25, 2015.
Children: Stefano Casiraghi (born February 28, 2017) and Francesco Casiraghi (born May 21, 2018) with Beatrice Borromeo.
Influence: as the son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover and Stefano Casiraghi, he is eighth in the line of succession to the Monégasque throne. He participates in inshore racing and car racing, and is the majority shareholder of Monacair and his father’s construction company, Engeco. Princess Alexandra of Hanover

Royal family: House of Hanover, a German royal house that no longer exists.
Full title: Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Hanover.
Born: July 20, 1999, in Vöcklabruck, Austria.
Lives: Monaco.
Parents: Ernst August, Prince of Hanover and Princess Caroline of Monaco.
Siblings: Hereditary Prince Ernst August; Prince Christian; Andrea Casiraghi and Pierre Casiraghi (half-brothers); Charlotte Casiraghi (half-sister).
Education: François d’Assise Nicolas Barré in Monaco.
Influence: as the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, Princess Alexandra of Hanover is Grace Kelly’s granddaughter and has a place of succession to the Monégasque throne. As her father belongs to the House of Hanover, she receives a royal title that reflects this. She is a competent figure skater and represented Monaco at the 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Austria.

Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco

Parents: Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and Jean Raymond Gottlieb.

Education: Home-schooled; Collège Charles III in Monaco.
