RMC Sport report this afternoon that Rennes forward M’Baye Niang’s potential move to Bordeaux is at a standstill, with Les Girondins now looking at other options as attacking recruits.

The club have been looking to sign a striker since their deadline day efforts to sign Galatasaray man Mostafa Mohamed were in vain. The LFP allows French clubs to make one additional signing past the summer, provided the player is in France.

Negotiations had been at an advanced stage for the 26-year-old’s move, but have now stalled, with financial disagreements between the two parties. Niang has been on the way out since last year, having previously pushed for a move to Marseille and been loaned out to Al-Ahli in the latter half of last season.

As they wait for talks for the Senegal international to continue, Bordeaux have begun to explore other options, notably Angers man Stéphane Bahoken, Strasbourg’s Habib Diallo and Gaëtan Laura of Paris FC.
