CM Punk discusses AEW rumors, initial talks with Tony Khan

CM Punk has addressed the recent rumors regarding his arrival in AEW, and also discussed initial talks with Tony Khan.

Speaking on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast regarding his role in the upcoming Starz drama Heels, Punk said while it wasn’t confirmed, he might be doing a screening of episode 3 of Heels in Chicago on the same night Rampage will run a show at the United Center. He also gave praise to Darby Allin. 

“Best in the world, that could be anyone,” Punk added, referring to the Allin promo on Dynamite. “That’s [Daniel] Bryan, right? That’s my assumption.”

When asked about his initial interactions with AEW President Tony Khan, Punk said he took a cautious approach, pointing out that he has talked to many people in the past who have had ideas about opening their own wrestling promotion, only for plans to fall through.

“I took a wait and see approach,” he said regarding AEW. “I wasn’t-I mean I’m not interested in pro wrestling, in that respect. We’re here, we’re talking about Heels, could be bad luck that this next role is set in the world of professional wrestling.”

Heels will premiere on Starz on August 15.
