BALDWIN PARK, CA —This month, thieves stole more than a foster pet parent’s car. They stole a disabled cocker spaniel’s wheels, along with all of her special needs items, the animal rescue group Camp Cocker reported.

They call her The Amazing Violet, and one look at her shows why.

This golden lass, rescued from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter in 2017, barely has the use of her back legs. Severely disabled from a significant trauma that was at least six months old, Violet arrived at Camp Cocker’s care with severe urine burns and evidence of being dragged around. Since then, Violet has spent her life in daily physical therapy. Over the years, with the help of Two Hands Four Paws canine physical therapists in Los Angeles, she has gotten stronger. Violet has regained some use of her back legs and uses a custom wheelchair to walk longer distances.

What’s more, she has a permanent foster home with one of her therapists.

Violet cuddles with her forever foster parent, Nami of Two Hands Four Paws.

As a special needs dog, Violet needs much support to keep her mobile. Her wish list includes Just Food For Dogs, a supplement dog chew, and a joint formula.

“She’s happy and safe now, forever,” Camp Cocker says of Violet. But without her wheelchair, Violet will suffer from a lack of mobility.

A police report was filed for the missing items, but nothing has been recovered.

Patch has reached out to the authorities regarding details of the theft, but they have not yet been reached for comment.

In the mean time, Camp Cocker is working to get Violet the specialty wheels that she needs.

“We’ve ordered her a new custom wheelchair and replacements for all of the other stolen supplies,” a Camp Cocker spokesperson said on Facebook.

Still, the costs are steep, and the rescue is seeking donations to cover the specialty products.

Violet likes to pay her way, posing for pictures that are featured on a set of note cards, spreading her carefree outlook on life.

As for those who love the little pup, they appreciate any support of their program.

“Thank you for rallying around Violet and supporting her and her foster mom, Nami,” a spokesperson said over social media. “This is not easy for (either Violet or Nami), but we love our village, and we are grateful for the support you are giving them!”

Fans are asked to share the story of “The Amazing Violet!” with friends and family.
