A catwalk show was conducted on the concourse at Victoria Station to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Gatwick Express. During rush hour on Thursday 14 May 09, the staff of the non-stop rail air link between London’s Victoria station and Gatwick Airport, modelled a selection of Gatwick Express uniforms. In brief five-minute catwalk shows that ran every 15 minutes from 08h30, Gatwick staff showed uniforms from the 80s to present day.

Chris Burchell, managing director at Gatwick Express said:” This was a landmark birthday for Gatwick Express. In the past 25 years, over 125 million people, including British Royalty and heads of states from all around the world, have travelled on our trains. We would like to thank all our customers for travelling with us over the past 25 years and look forward to continuing to deliver our excellent customer service to not only our existing customers but new customers, for many more years to come.”

Until 1984, the train link to Gatwick Airport was limited, using dedicated carriages from part of another rail service. The Gatwick Express was launched sporting full InterCity colours and the ability to reach speeds of 90 miles per hour.
