Go inside the 2019 Sydney Climate Strike
On a changeable day – sunny, then cloudy with blustery winds — tens of thousands of school students and teachers joined people taking action on climate change at Sydney’s Domain. Part of what some estimates number at a 300,000-strong moment, they gathered to hear lead organisers speak to agitate for change in what is viewed by most attendees as a climate crisis.
Babies, dogs, children, parents, grandpas and grandmas, teenagers and office workers alike converged together to kick start the day that continued around the world in the lead up to the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, happening now in New York. Vogue was on the ground with photographer Ellen Virgona who captured the strike, the most creative signs and the people who stopped work and study to strike, as they put it, for their futures.
