Bruno Guimarães:
I apologise for not speaking French with you yet but I promise that I will do everything in my power to get there. I want to integrate here as quickly as possible.. I want to thank the supporters who invaded my social media, I am also very enthusiastic about being here. If the manager decides, I am ready to play as soon as Sunday… Juninho is responsible for this decision. He called my family and my agents. I have found him to be a really sincere guy. He offered me a very nice project for my career. There are also a lot of youngsters at Lyon… (My idols are) Ronaldinho, Zidane. (Who I currently look up to) Pogba, Kroos, Modric, De Bruyne… I like having ball possession. I like to help the team. I can play in all the midfield positions. I need to speak with the manager to understand how to adapt to the system in place. I was able to speak with the Brazilians during my first training session.
Lyon President, Jean Michel-Aulas:
I want to thank Juni who was the cornerstone throughout the negotiations. To do these sorts of transfers, you need to have funds and I dealt with that. You also need nuance and the Brazilian know-how and we are well covered on that side of things. This is a future very great player. He is already one of the best Brazilian youngsters. This is an important deal for Lyon, because we went after him and we were in a difficult spot owing to injuries.
Lyon Sporting Director, Juninho:
The first time I got to know Bruno, I was a pundit in Brazil. I have always been impressed with his talent, the way he uses the ball in midfield. He was already our priority target under Sylvinho. I like players who have a background in futsal, that is the case with him… We need to control games more. We are also thinking about the future with Bruno. He is quite a complete midfielder. He can install himself here quite quickly… I hope that he will quickly integrate and if possible play from Sunday (Lyon face Strasbourg then). He has a lot of self-belief and he has just played six competitive fixtures for Brazil. Knowing his quality, even though all will not be easy, he is ready. He will help us when we are under pressure. He is a different midfielder to the ones we have in our squad. We are in 9th place and we want to improve.
