The FFF have this evening announced the withdrawal of attacker Kylian Mbappé from the French national squad owing to ongoing injury troubles.

He is replaced by Bundesliga side Gladbach’s striker Alassane Pléa. PSG had formally written to L’Équipe de France to ask that Mbappé was not involved in action during this international break.

Deschamps’ squad is threadbare heading into the critical phase of this EURO 2020 qualifying stage, with matches away to Iceland and at home to Turkey incoming.

Mbappé joins Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) and Léo Dubois (Lyon) in being out of action at this crucial time.
