Lyon likely to move for Valentin Rongier to replace Nabil Fékir
L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Lyon are set to decide internally in the coming hours whether or not to pursue 24-year-old Nantes captain and central midfielder Valentin Rongier to replace Nabil Fékir, who is departing to Real Betis.
Rongier, who is under contract with Les Canaris until 2022, has been told by the FCN board that he can leave if an acceptable bid is made for his services.
Many decision-makers at Lyon believe that Rongier would be the perfect replacement for Fékir, who they had intended to convert into a deeper-lying midfielder for the 2019/20 campaign anyway to fit with Sylvinho’s 4-3-3 formation.
OL still need to fully agree internally that Rongier is the right target before making concrete moves to sign him. They will face competition from Marseille in trying to get this deal done.
