Ahead of France’s opening game of the 2022 Women’s Euros, star striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto (23) conducted an interview with L’Équipe, discussing a variety of topics, including France’s chances in the tournament, her relationship with manager Corinne Diacre, her relationship with Kylian Mbappé, and the difficulties within the PSG squad over the last year. Finally, the club’s all-time top scorer revealed that she is convinced both the men’s and women’s teams will win the Champions League

At PSG, is the position of the girls sufficient?

Yes, even if we could still climb a bit more. The boys remain first, we don’t want to take that place. We also want to go as far as possible in the Champions League. We were very disappointed after the second leg against Real (1-3), they also were for us (after elimination in the semi-finals against Lyon). We wanted them to win, and vice-versa.

The women’s team let the trophy go and fell at the doors to the final of the Champions League. What were you missing this season?

Lots of things… Especially calmness, a bit more support since we felt a bit abandoned. We also lacked communication between the perception of the players and the management of the club.

Just to be sure, you are speaking about the Hamraoui affair when you regret the lack of ‘calmness’?

If you want, yes. We’ll say that.

Were you scared that could have the same consequences on the national team?

No. It did us some good to see each other at that time. We laughed, we had a good time. It’s always a pleasure to be here, it’s a chance to see old friends again that we see less, especially those playing abroad.

You were born in Colombes, you’ve been wearing the PSG colours since turning pro. You’ve won a Division 1, a Coupe de France and have reached two Champions League finals. Are you sure that this is the right place to keep winning trophies?

I’m sure. I know it, PSG will win the Champions League. With the women and the men. And in the handball too.
