Meghan Markle goes back to her Tig days as the guest editor of British Vogue’s September issue

Before Meghan Markle was a member of the British royal family she was an actress and an online publisher with a very popular lifestyle blog called The Tig. When she met, fell in love with and married Prince Harry, all those parts of Markle’s life that made her accessible to the public, like acting and blogging, were shut down, presumably for good.

However, Markle and Prince Harry have proved time and time again since they wed in spectacular royal wedding style in May 2018 in Windsor that they are their own kind of royals and are determined to chart their own path.

Case in point: British Vogue have announced Meghan Markle has guest-edited the September 2019 issue of British Vogue alongside the magazine’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, marking a welcome return to publishing for the 37-year-old former blogger-turned-duchess.

According to British Vogue the September issue is a “landmark” issue for the magazine focusing on game-changing female voices around the world. “Entitled ‘Forces for Change’, the September 2019 issue highlights a cast of brilliant female changemakers who are set to re-shape society in radical and positive ways,” British Vogue reports of the issue.

The title also notes that Markle’s guest editor assignment is the first time a September issue of the title has been “co-edited”.

The cover has been revealed, showing off a cast of leading females including New Zealand’s prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, who Meghan Markle has forged a friendship with after they met during Markle and Prince Harry’s royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga. Markle and Ardern were reportedly very impressed with each other and Ardern even had a private meeting with Markle in London a few months after their first meeting so they could continue the conversation.

 

Along with Ardern, US actress and activist Jane Fonda, teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg and model Adwoa Aboah are also on the cover, which was photographed by Peter Lindbergh.

In the cover reveal article, British Vogue shares part of Markle’s guest editor’s cover letter where she touches on how rewarding she found her guest editing role and the surprising length of time she has been working on the issue. “These last seven months have been a rewarding process, curating and collaborating with Edward Enninful, British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, to take this year’s most-read fashion issue and steer its focus to the values, causes and people making impact in the world today,” the Duchess reportedly wrote.

No news yet if this will be a one-time or recurring role, but for Markle fans even this is a welcome return to the publishing world for the former lifestyle blogger.
