After news broke yesterday that actor Liam Hemsworth, 29, had reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Miley Cyrus, of just over seven months, rumours started swirling about why Hemsworth had filed for divorce so soon after announcing their split (a representative for Cyrus confirmed the couple had split in a statement in early August).
One of those rumours was that the couple had split as a result of one party being unfaithful, however Cyrus has definitively quashed those rumours, posting a candid and emotional essay on Twitter over the course of a number of tweets.

Cyrus shared that while she “lost a massive Walmart deal at 17 for ripping a bong [and] got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it,” she “was committed” to her relationship with Hemsworth when they got back together after having some time apart and then tied the knot in a private ceremony at their home in Nashville in December 2018.
She also wrote that there are “NO secrets to uncover here” and that while she will admit to doing “a lot of things” she will not admit to there being any unfaithfulness in her marriage.“I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will,” Cyrus wrote on Twitter.
The singer further noted that she is moving forward with her life and the healthiest option for her was to leave her previous life behind and move on — Hemsworth and Cyrus had been together on and off for nearly a decade, despite the shortness of their marriage.
“… at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking, foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar. I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was… younger,” the 26-year-old wrote on Twitter.
Aside from the statement announcing the initial split via a representative and a couple of posts that indirectly seemed to reference the split, Cyrus’s candid Twitter stream is the first time the singer has specifically spoken about the break-up. Hemsworth had previously posted to Instagram about their split, confirming the separation and wishing her “nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
