Mode City presents its premiere in Paris
For its move to Porte de Versailles, this fair from Lyons set itself the following challenge: to present its summer lingerie and beachwear ranges clearly. Armed with its reputation as a global reference for professional lingerie fairs and above all for its beach fashion since its foundation over 20 years ago, Mode City wanted to ensure …
According to Séverine Marchesi Bendib, the fair’s exhibition manager, the success of Mode City’s move from Lyons to Paris was demonstrated as soon as the fair opened: “It was confirmed from the fair’s first day that the number of visitors had risen by 6% compared with the last Mode City event in Lyons.” She welcomes the success of the fashion pass (the new single badge that gives access to all the fairs): 50% of the visitors to Mode City were armed with the single pass on the first day of the fair.
Despite a few complaints by the Lyons-based exhibitors, Séverine confirms that business is business and that the majority of them have followed the fair to Paris. “Our move to Paris nevertheless has a definite advantage from the point of view of our international visitors’ travel arrangements. From now on they need to buy only one plane ticket,” she added.
For its inauguration in Paris from 6th to 8th September, for the first time Mode City welcomed 800 summer lingerie and beach fashion brands from 90 countries from all over the world. The fair’s new formula presented 4 sections (instead of fourteen at the previous events in Lyons): Young Fashion, Designers & Labels, The Essentials and Cocooning (dedicated to loungewear).
The Interfilière fair has of course followed Mode City to Paris, which welcomed it within its walls in Hall 3/1. This fair within a fair alone has brought together over 300 exhibitors and its particular Beach Art character dedicated to the designers, weavers, printers and manufacturers of beach accessories was greatly appreciated by the public. An adjacent area christened “innovation fibres” dedicated to techniques and new technologies combined fibre samples and innovative materials.
Lastly, the free fashion shows (an innovation), various and varied conferences and Speaker’s Corner dedicated to discussions about slimming lingerie, the advantages of producing in Europe and the feminisation of sport succeeded in attracting numerous professionals from the sector during the four days of the fair.
In Hall 2.1, the subsidiary fair “Sourcing by Mode City,” which brings together production skills (and which already existed in Lyons) highlighted the manufacturers from the Mediterranean Basin and from Eastern European countries.
