Elk River, MN – March 18, 2015: The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association today named Lance Benick of Totino-Grace High School as Mr. Minnesota, 2015. He is a four-time state champion, finishing his stellar career ranked as the #1-ranked high school wrestler in the nation at 195 lbs. Benick, who compiled a 173-4 record over the past four seasons, will attend Arizona State next year.

Members of the selection committee stated that Minnesota’s senior class once again provided a very deep pool of candidates, with several multiple-time state champions graduating this season. Candidates are considered based on their performance over the course of their careers, as well as how they present themselves both on and off the mat.

The MWCA also announced that Joel Skillings (Minneota – Class A), Larry Goodnature (Albert Lea – Class AA) and Chad Olson/Henry Gerten (Farmington – Class AAA) were chosen by their peers as the head coaches of the year.

The MWCA Assistant Coach of the Year, also chosen by a selection committee, was Greg Dravis (Eastview).
