Natalie Portman debuts a new look with a daring hemline and a hair colour change

Over the weekend, Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman stepped out for the premiere of her highly-anticipated new film in a breathtaking, and rather daring, look that went on to make headlines.

Taking to the Los Angeles premiere of Lucy in The Sky—a film in which Portman plays an astronaut who struggles to settle upon returning to Earth from her first mission into space—the actress joined castmates Jon Hamm and Pearl Dickson on the red carpet wearing a black Givenchy ensemble.

The two-piece outfit the 38-year-old actress opted to wear for the evening featured a top with shoulder pads, and a plunging neckline which reached her navel, and served to complement the thigh-skimming tuxedo-style skirt it was paired with.

Portman and her stylist, Ryan Hastings—who also works with the likes of Rooney Mara, Elizabeth Olsen and Rosamund Pike—let the jaw-dropping look do all the talking, and accessorised with black sandal heels alone.

The actress took to Instagram with an image from the red carpet premiere, which also pictured Hamm and Lucy in The Sky director, Noah Hawley. “Plaid sandwich at last night’s @lucyintheskyfilm premiere! In theaters Oct 4,” she captioned the post.

Portman, who recently fronted the new Rouge Dior Ultra Care campaign as the luxury brand’s beauty ambassador, enlisted the help of make-up artist Lisa Storey, who defined the actress’s beauty look with rosy cheeks, smokey eyes and a bold red lip.

Hairstylist Mara Roszak, who has worked with Portman on a number of occasions, curled the actress’s freshly highlighted bob—which looked far lighter than usual—into a cascade of loose curls, which only served to intensify the impact of her daring Givenchy ensemble.

While its a well known fact that Portman prefers to keep a low profile, there is no denying we’re already anticipating her next red carpet appearance.
