Official | Djed Spence joins Rennes on loan from Tottenham Hotspur
Rennes have tonight announced the signing of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence, on a loan deal until the end of the season with no option to make the move permanent.
The 22-year-old right-back crosses the Channel after six appearances with the North Londonders so far this season, having made the move from Middlesbrough this summer. Last season, the England youth international had been a key part of Nottingham Forest’s promotion campaign – making 39 Championship appearances, scoring twice and registering five assists along the way.
The Bretons, who are targeting a Champions League spot this season, make the move in the wake of captain Hamari Traoré’s injury, with the full-back set to miss six weeks of action. Traoré’s absence is the latest casualty in what has developed into an injury crisis for Bruno Génésio’s men, who have already lost star forward Martin Terrier to a season-ending knee issue, while striker Arnaud Kalimuendo is also out of action – the club having acted by bringing in Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi on loan.
