Pipestone Area makes history

PIPESTONE — Brian Bos’ history with the Pipestone Area wrestling program has taken many twists and turns.

On Saturday, it took the best turn ever as the Arrows defeated Minneota 33-29 for the Section 3A championship. It marks the first time that a Pipestone team qualified for a Minnesota state wrestling tournament, and Bos has been there for the last 21 years.

“It’s just a culmination of a lot of hard work,” said the veteran coach.

The top-seeded Arrows rolled past Adrian 68-10 in the section quarterfinals on Thursday, then on Saturday beat Canby 42-24 in the semifinals and Minneota 33-29 in the finals. PA entered the tournament as the ninth-ranked team in Minnesota Class A. Minneota, which topped Windom/Mountain Lake 40-21 in the other semifinal contest, is ranked No. 8.
