Shoulder injury rules Paddy Jackson out for up to six weeks

ULSTER OUT-HALF Paddy Jackson could be out until January after suffering a shoulder injury in the Pro12 win over Ospreys.

Ulster’s medical team today revealed Jackson’s injury to be a sprain of the AC joint in his right shoulder.

The 22-year-old is expected to be out for the next six weeks as a result (and could turn 23 before his next appearance). The timeframe will keep him out of  Pro12 encounters with Munster, Ospreys and Connacht on top of the Champions Cup double header against the Scarlets.

Jackson’s absence will give Ian Humphreys a chance to settle back in to the number 10 jersey at Ravenhill, but the injury gives Neil Doak a further headache with Chris Henry, Luke Marshall, Andrew Trimble and Jared Payne currently at varying stages of recovery.
