The seventh season of The Bachelor Australia has been nothing short of dramatic. From the tears to the tantrums, each drama-filled episode has been more outlandish than the next, and this week’s installments were no exceptions.

If you’ve been tuning in then you’re well aware that Rachael and Mary were two of the four contestants that were asked to leave the mansion this week. While Mary had to pack her bags as she did not receive a rose from Matt, the bachelor requested Rachael leave after it was revealed she has slipped her mobile number to a producer from the show.

In the short time since that episode aired, Rachael has made headlines for her rumoured relationship with fellow bachelorette Vakoo. While many outlets are reporting their relationship to be the real deal, when given the chance, we quizzed Mary on its authenticity.

Confessing she was just as shocked as we were when a photo of the pair kissing first surfaced, Mary told Vogue: “I had no idea that they would find love with each other like that.”

The former bachelorette then went on to share that their alleged relationship may be purely for publicity. “You never know they’re so young and they just came out of a TV show,” she said. “So, it could be staged, it could not be staged. I’d rather [stay] out of that one.”

As for how she feels about being one of the most-loved bachelorettes of the season, courtesy of her witty quips and relatable humour, Mary shares: “I was surprised because I wasn’t expecting to have all these people sad about me leaving.”

Going on to add that she’s yet to find love and is “back on the dating apps today,” she maintains she’s happy and her life has returned to normal. “I didn’t win Matt but I think I won the peoples’ heart,” she laughed. “So yay!”

In a few short weeks, Mary thinks Matt will crown Chelsie as the woman who has won his heart. “Matt really likes her and you can see they’re both nerds,” she tells Vogue. “They’re both good looking and they both live in Melbourne, so it would be smart of him to pick her.”
