The Isa rug evokes the rune and spirit of respite.
After the success of her first collaboration with Designer Rugs in 2014, interior designer and author of Make a Home to Love, Anna-Carin McNamara, has just launched a new collection with the brand. Titled ‘Norse’ and inspired by runes, an ancient form of writing, each rug is handmade from 100 per cent wool.

The Fehu rug evokes the rune and spirit of wealth.
McNamara has based her rug designs on the runes used to evoke family unity, wealth, respite and the earth goddess.

Traditional Nordic rug designs were often based on a myth or poem, so the blend of rug and rune is a potent one. McNamara was raised on a farm in the south of Sweden and has imbued her new designs with memories from her childhood.

“McNamara is an amazing designer with incredible talent,” says Yosi Tal, managing director of Designer Rugs. “She is also a lovely human being and very easy to work with. Her first collection with us sold very well, so it was a natural progression to do another one.”
