WWE News: Kane/Royal Rumble, Cain Velasquez, Update on Rumble Special Appearances
— Despite being on Smackdown where he teased an appearance in the Royal Rumble, Kane was never booked to be a part of the match or even on the show, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Cain Velasquez meanwhile was specifically told that he would be brought back for the Rumble but when the creative plans for the match itself were laid out, he was never included in any of them.
— For those wondering, Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly), Kelly Kelly and Santino Marella were all brought in for special limited appearances and none of them signed any sort of contract to appear regularly. Kelly Kelly specifically was a late replacement for Sasha Banks, after Banks was not medically cleared to compete in the Rumble match.
