Much like her A-type character in , everything Reese Witherspoon puts her mind to is a huge success. And the next project on her agenda looks set to be another example of her hit-making Midas touch.
The Oscar-winning actress, media mogul and author has just started work on the TV adaption of the best-selling 2017 novel, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, a book that drew comparisons to another novel-turned-TV-series starring Witherspoon, Big Little Lies.
Witherspoon and fellow actress Kerry Washington announced their joint plan to adapt the best-selling book into a limited series last year and it was picked up by Hulu with both actresses attached to star in and executive produce the series.
With filming having just gotten underway on the upcoming series, read on for everything we know so far about the TV adaptation of Little Fires Everywhere.

The book the series is based on is a total page-turner of a small town drama. The story takes place in Shaker Heights, a suburb of Ohio and revolves around two families, the straight-laced upper middle class Richardsons, and an artist and her daughter — the Warrens — who move to town bringing a car full of baggage that includes mystery, drama and intrigue. There’s also, as the name implies, arson involved and a community-dividing custody battle over a Chinese-American baby. It’s assumed the TV series will follow the plot of the novel closely.
Reese Witherspoon will star as the matriarch of the Richardson family, journalist Elena Richardson. Kerry Washington has signed on for the role of artist-with-a-past Mia Warren. Newcomer Lexi Underwood will play Mia’s daughter, Pearl Warren, and Rosemarie DeWitt is signed on to play Linda McCullough — the adopted mother of the Chinese-American baby at the heart of the custody battle and Elena Richardson’s childhood friend.
Megan Stott makes her TV debut on the show in the role of the Richardson’s daughter Izzy Richardson, who is considered the black sheep of the family.
Rounding out the Richardson family is Jade Pettyjohn as the eldest Richardson child, Lexie, Gavin Lewis as well-meaning Moody Richardson and Jordan Elsass as the jock of the family, Tripp.
Variety reports Joshua Jackson, who is best known for playing Pacey on Dawson’s Creek, has been announced in the role of Elena Richardson’s lawyer husband and father of the Richardson kids, Bill Richardson.
IMDb has the series premiering in 2020, but Hulu hasn’t released an exact date for when we can expect to see the series on our screens.
However, production has already started, with Reese Witherspoon taking to Instagram to share a cast picture from “Day 1” of the project.
In June 2019, Reese Witherspoon shared another snap of the upcoming series on Instagram. This time, the post was of herself and Kerry Washington on set, in character as Elena Richardson and Mia Warren respectively. The actress captioned the post “Bringing it back to the ’90s! Meet Mia Warren and Elena Richardson. So excited to be shooting @LittleFiresHulu with the incredibly talented @kerrywashington!”
